Very Small Group :P

Wenjing: this picture is actually from last year's homecoming. we were the smallest group because there was a "conflict" before the dance but was later resolved :) melissa looked stunning in those electric blue jeans and the black vest. the vest gave her a touch of sophistication and a hint of fierceness. I, myself, had on a plaid/flowery shirt with a pair of blue jeans. i really liked the shirt because the texture was wonderful and it was very flowy. the shirt was revealing enough to be sexy while still kept its elegance.

Neon vs. Pastel

Melissa: It's no secret that neon has taken fashion by storm in the past year or so. Some people know how to make it work, and some just take it too far. This spring lighter, pastel colors are hitting the scene. Will pastels take over the neon spotlight? Here are some examples of both looks done right, and done wrong. You decide for yourself which you want to try.

Neons

Above are examples right off the runway of neon done right. One neon piece looks great when paired with an all black outfit. The one, or two, neon pieces really stand out and make the overall look very unique and sophisticated and gives a special effect.

Lindsay Lohan's neon maxi-dress on the left is an example of neon gone wrong. The colors are not appropriate for the length of the dress. Maxi-dresses should be simple because they speak for themselves. On the right is Aubrey O'Day, formerly of Danity Kane. The shape of the dress is flattering and stylish but the various neon colors added to it take away from those aspects of it and bring the overall look down.

Pastels

These are examples of pastels looking great. Sarah Jessica Parker looks beautiful in her pale green dress (weird hat aside). The color is very springish and matches her complexion perfectly. On the right is a model walking fiercely down the catwalk in a pale pinkish-rose dress paired with a whiteish-cream color cardigan. The softness of the individual colors compliment each other and create an overall subtle, yet stunning look.

I hate to make a mockery of this random woman, but she brought it upon herself when she stepped outside in this. Each piece is bold and would look fine paired with plain colors such as black or even white, but together it has too much going on. The semi-bright blue on top paired with the pastel pink cami, jeans, and shoes does not work well together.

In general, both trends are hot right now. When done right, they can both look great, but when done wrong, they can both look tasteless. When wearing neon, having one or two bright pieces against black creates a stunning effect. With pastels, pairing a colored pastel (e.g. blue, pink etc.) with lighter pastels such as cream or white makes for a great outfit. Wearing too much of either trend can end in disaster.

Futuristic Fashion

Melissa: The runway has recently taken a turn towards a new and innovative futuristic look. Shiny blacks and silvers fused with plays on shapes seem to be what the fashion world is becoming. Here are some photos straight off the runway, stage, and red carpet.

Above you see two different models rocking this new trend in all black ensembles with hints of shine and play on volume. Paired with black tights and these ensembles are perfect for an updated look.

Here is a design done by Leanne Marshall during her time on the hit Bravo show, Project Runway. The concave design around the hips was a great way to play up this black dress.

Celebrities are known for their great sense of fashion, but even they get it wrong sometimes. To the left is a picture of Beyonce during a performance. The futuristic look is about shape and color but this is taking it too far. To the right, she redeems herself by pulling out a sexy metallic gold ensemble that was perfect for a performance.

The above looks are not realistic for an average day on the streets, but that doesn't mean you can't update your ensemble with some embellishments. Take inspiration from the above picture of Rihanna, sporting a tight black leather outfit at the American Music Awards. Her look is toped off with the addition of several silver chains attached to her corset.

To get the most out of this trend for everyday wear, try adding simple things to a black ensemble, such as gold and silver jewelery to add a little flair to any outfit and to make the most out of this trend while catching people's eyes in doing so, in a good way of course.

P.S. Stay tuned for some photos of me, Wenjing, and Ryo sporting our everyday futuristic looks.

Asian Fashion

Wenjing: asian fashion is very unique and fasinating. i love the patterns of the shirt that this girl is wearing. the plaid is appropriate and very colorful for spring.

these are some more cute outfits that i found

The Winter Ball "Jungle"

Wenjing: Yesterday, we had a "Jungle" ball at our school. We were all supposed to wear something like cheetah or zebra patterns but i decided that i wanted to stand out in a fashionable way. So i altered my last year's homecoming dress into something unique. i scrunched and hemmed the middle of the dress and sewed it up with a needle and thread. It took me forever to make it but it was worth it. i then accesorized it with a belt, some tights, and a pair of 4.5 in heels. wut do u think?

before

After

Ryo;ya finally! okay the day i wore the dress which has the giraffe pattern. that sounds weird but i thought it can be matched with the theme of this dance cuz the theme was jungle!!!

and i also wore necklace made by wood and bracelet! i just bought them from the store which was in coventry.

the dress cost me only 28 dollers at the northstorm rack in legacy villege! they have whole banch of cloths they are so cute and cheap ! so we need to go there sometime!

okay did i write right??
